My name is Radu Kis and I was born in Arad. I lived with my parents until the age of four. They separated, and then I lived only with my father. We moved to Cluj, together with my sister Oana. There we lived with my father’s girlfriend and her son Adi, who was handicapped. My father got in trouble and ended up in prison. After a visit to him in prison, Oana and I were sent to an orphanage. From there we were sent back to Arad where my mother picked us up and sent us to stay with our grandparents. I started kindergarten there, but after a few days we were taken to another orphanage on Cibinului Street. There, Tata Petrica from Global Hope began to pick us up every Sunday and take us to church. One summer, after spending a week at summer camp in Sistarovati, Jacci Knight from Global Hope picked us up and took us to the House of Hope. We lived there until we moved into Ana’s House in September.
My new parents at Ana’s House were Roni and Rodi Stepan, and my new sisters were Simona, Sanda, and Rodica Chis, and Oana Karla. Later on Robi, Mircea, Teo, Paula, Lisa, Cristina and Marian came too.
I started second grade at the Baptist grade school, where I also attend high school today. I still have a relationship with my biological mom, who has a 3 year-old daughter with the man she has lived with since she separated from my father. My father is Spain, but recently he called and asked about us. In the last eight years since I’ve lived at Ana’s House a lot has happened. At this moment we pray that Ana’s House will remain open. Some of the things I am grateful for are: that I live here, that I’ve come to know about God, I attend a good high school, and for the family that I have now.
