“We tend to use prayer as a last resort, but God wants it to be our first line of defense. We pray when there’s nothing else we can do, but God wants us to pray before we do anything at all.

-Oswald Chambers

God hears the cries of His people! We encourage you to join Global Hope in a 20-day prayer cycle praying for the children we serve in Romania, India and Kenya, and praying for children around the world who have been orphaned, abandoned and forgotten. Our greatest weapon against the evils of this world is prayer; and James reminds us that the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective (Jam 5:16). Not only will prayer benefit those you pray for, but by God’s grace, it will also strengthen your relationship with the Lord.

LORD, I pray:

Day 1: For children who have lost their parents, or have been abandoned by them. Place them in a home where they can become part of a new loving family. “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families.” Ps 68:5-6

Day 2: For the caregivers in Romania: Roni & Rodi Stephan, Iuli & Feri Dobrea, Gabi & Dorel Stanca, Cornel & Maria Miclea, Ana Paraschiv, and Maria Netada. Grant them patience, wisdom and compassion as they raise up the children under their care. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Gal 6:9

Day 3: For the children, that they will hear the Word and embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May they come to faith knowing he is the good shepherd who laid his life down for every one of us.I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” Jn 10:11

Day 4: For the caregivers in India: Saji John, Sunith, Rebekah, Pastor Zakkariah & Jeevamani. Grant them patience, wisdom and compassion as they raise up the children under their care. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Rom 15:13

Day 5: For the children, that their wounds of rejection, abandonment and loss would be healed and would receive the love showered on them by their caretakers. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Ps 147:3

Day 6: For the caregivers in Kenya: Pastor Stanley & Alice, Jesse Maina, Margaret Nderi and Christine Wambui. Grant them patience, wisdom and compassion as they raise up the children under their care. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Prov 3:5-6

Day 7: For the families of children unable to care for their children because of poverty or illness, that the Lord will make a way for them to stay connected to their children, and that they will find peace and nourishment from the Lord. “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” Ps 91:4

Day 8: For those who give financially through Global Hope to support the families and children, that they give out of an abundance of joy and desire to serve the Lord. “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Cor 9:7

Day 9: For the children, that they would persevere and give their best in their school so that it will serve them well in the future. “A sluggard’s appetite is never filled, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.” Prov 13:4

Day 10: For the Global Hope staff and board of directors, that they honor the Lord with their work relying on wisdom and discernment from Him who knows and sees all. “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ” Phil 1:9-10

Day 11: For the children, that they would learn to be content in all situations, trusting in the Lord for strength and deliverance. “We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Rom 5:3-4

Day 12: For short-term mission teams who travel to Global Hope sites, that they serve with an open heart to be the hands and feet of Jesus. “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matt 5:16

Day 13: For the children, that they would they resist worldly pressures and have pure hearts devoted to the Lord and His commands. “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Ps 51:10

Day 14: For the Church, that Christians would embrace the Biblical mandate to care for the fatherless and take action to make a difference in the life of a child. “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” Ps 82:3

Day 15: For the children, that they will be imitators of Christ loving others as they are loved and forgiving as they are forgiven. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Eph 4:32

Day 16: For the children, that they develop a strong self-esteem rooted in the knowledge that they are the Lord’s workmanship. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Eph 2:10

Day 17: For the children, that they would have good health and healing when it is needed. May they have access to doctors and medicine when they are ill.Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits–who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.” Ps 103:2-3

Day 18: For the leaders in Romania, India and Kenya who make decisions that influence the welfare of children in their country. May they use wisdom and discernment in their policy-making so that the needs of orphaned and abandoned children are not disregarded.I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people– for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” 1 Tim 2:1-2

Day 19: For the children, that they would not be concerned or worried about daily necessities, but will trust God for everything that is needed for a healthy, fruitful life. “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.” Matt 6:31-32

Day 20: Praise God for His faithfulness! He raises up people (donors, volunteers, missionaries, etc.) to bring the love of Jesus and provide care to over 475 children in Romania, India and Kenya! As the need continues to help these and other children, pray that God will continue to move people’s hearts to get involved using gifts and talents the Lord has blessed them with. “For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the Lord.” Ps 117:2
