Be a Light of Hope for a vulnerable child!
Gangothri is 8 years old and came to live at Prema Girls’ Home when it opened last summer. Gangothri’s father was an alcoholic and abusive toward his wife. Three years ago, he left the family leaving Gangothri’s mom to care for her three children by herself. Desperate, and lacking a strong skillset, she took work as a coolie (a porter who carries luggage). She only earns $45/month at this job, which is not enough to adequately care for her children, or send them to school. A local pastor saw that the children were malnourished and not in school. He helped Gangothri’s mother get Gangothri, the youngest of the three, into Prema Girls’ Home. Here she is safe, receives good meals, and can stay healthy. She is also now going to school. Gangothri enjoys playing ball and dancing. She’s eager to study hard and get good grades because she wants to grow up and become a doctor!
Gangothri needs a long-distance Godparent. By committing to $39/month you help pay for her daily care and education. You can also write letters to Gangothri and let her know you are praying for her!
