We are pleased to report that the child refugees who came to us from Ukraine are all doing well and making the best of a difficult situation. We are currently caring for 28 children — four to seven years old — along with the director who traveled with them from Kyiv. Originally the orphanage director had planned to return to Ukraine but thankfully has decided to stay with the children in Romania to provide stability.
Pastor Cristi and his team have now completed all of the documentation with Protection of the Child authorities and we are now fully licensed to care for the kids under the umbrella of the Global Hope Association non-profit entity. We have entered into a two-year lease with the evangelical camp to allow the children to continue living in the retreat center, this facility is already set up to house up to 40 people. We are re-naming it Nehemiah Children’s Home in honor of Nehemiah rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. The home is about an hour and 20 minutes outside of Sibiu, Romania.
