Construction is humming along on the new classroom buildings at Spring Valley. Here are a few entries in the construction report ‘diary’:
Wednesday December 11: The workers are working tirelessly on completing the finishing of the interior of the classrooms. All the plaster work for the ground floor classrooms, kitchen and dining are complete and the construction workers are now preparing the classrooms floors so that tiles and terrazzo can be placed next week. other workers are now working on the second floor door and window fittings and plaster work for the interior of the upstairs classrooms, laboratory and workshop will begin at the end of this week. Some of the workers are now clearing the ground outside the classrooms and clearing construction material, so that they can level it and cement it by next week
There is a lot of excitement as the construction of the classes nears completion and the staff and children always take small tours to see where their classrooms will be and how they look like.
Monday, December 16: The workers have been working on the upper floor classrooms doing plaster work and installing doors and windows in the upper floor classrooms. The plaster work should be complete by tomorrow and we can then begin the last stage of painting the classrooms and school building. Today tr. Jesse had a staff meeting with all the teachers and took them on a tour and orientation of the new classes, the teachers together with tr. Jesse discussed how the interior of the classrooms, labs and workshop will look like and what colors should be used to paint the classrooms. It was a wonderful morning with each teacher giving an input in how they would like their classrooms to look like.
Wednesday, December 18: Today has been a very busy day in Spring Valley as Pastor Stanley, tr. Alice, tr. Jesse and Solomon the engineer went to shop for paint, tiles, and terrazzo. The team came back with base coat paint and the tiles and terrazzo will be delivered tomorrow. The construction workers were busy installing electrical wires in the classrooms, and pipes for the plumbing of the kitchen, laboratory and workshop. The workers also began painting the base coat paint and preparing the classroom floors for tiles and terrazzo placement while others began placing grills and rails on the staircase.
The construction is now 92% done and we are very excited to see the faithfulness of the Lord in all that is happening.
